Lyle Clarke

Chair

Lyle has extensive experience in Ontario’s producer responsibility sector, serving on the Board of Waste Diversion Ontario and Stewardship Ontario in their formative years, having built Stewardship Ontario’s organizational capability as 2IC from 2009 to 2012 and leading it through to 2014. Since 2014 Lyle has been a leading business executive and advisor in Canada’s emerging clean technology industry. Lyle is also an accomplished strategist with a deep appreciation for the economic challenges and opportunities emerging in this sector. An insightful negotiator and collaborator, particularly in complex multi-party situations; he has the trust and respect of a wide range of contacts in government (both provincial and municipal), the waste management and recycling industries, and the consumer retail and packaged goods industries.

Carol Hochu

Director

Carol has been successfully leading and managing trade associations and not-for-profit organizations for over 30 years. Her career spans the tire and rubber, plastics, waste electronics, confectionery, and aggregates industries. Carol joined the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) as the incoming President & CEO in September 2020 and officially took the helm on January 1, 2021. Additionally, Carol works with both Federal and Provincial governments on all matters facing the industry in Canada. Carol’s education includes a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Guelph, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Carol also holds a Certified Association Executive (CSA) designation from the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE).

Glen Maidment

Director

Glenn is a veteran of the rubber industry, having started his career in Kitchener, Ontario, working for a major tire company. Glenn joined the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) in 1991 and was appointed President in 2001. Before retiring from TRAC in 2020, he managed the overall affairs of the association, acting as the industry’s chief spokesman, and developing and implementing their strategic direction in concert with the Association’s Board of Directors. One such initiative was the industry’s implementation of the performance-based symbol to identify winter tires, which is now adopted around the world. Glenn is also a member of provincial tire stewardship boards in Manitoba and B.C. He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Economics and earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE).

Don Gaultier

Director

Don has held numerous sales, marketing and senior management positions within the automotive and tire industry since 1984. Following his role as Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing for a prominent domestic tire manufacturer, Don moved to the independent tire dealer channel in 2001 to assist with the development of a corporate and associate store program for a mid-size regional tire dealer. He was instrumental in re-launching the associate store program and turning it into a significant national operation. Having retired in 2015, Don now enjoys his family, grandchildren and many hobbies including photography, woodworking and gardening. He also keeps in touch with the industry through various consulting opportunities.

Melissa Coulson

Director

Melissa is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Chartered Accountant and a Licensed Public Accountant with a practice located in downtown Milton. Melissa started her career in Accounting more than 15 years ago, when she trained for her designation with Ernst & Young LLP in Toronto. In 2005, she took over an existing Milton practice, which includes accounting for small to medium size companies as well as providing personal tax advice to individuals, sole proprietors, not-for-profit groups and charities. Her office also performs bookkeeping services and provides auditing and review engagement reports for her clients that need them. She is actively involved in the Milton community and has sat as the President of the Milton Chamber of Commerce and has had a long-time affiliation with the United Way of Milton. Melissa is also a current Board Member of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA).

Ian Morton

Director

Ian Morton is an award-winning entrepreneur, experienced in building, scaling and guiding businesses through various stages of inception, growth, and maturation. His diverse background includes multiple C-suite executive roles and achievements within the environmental service, cannabis, and technology sectors. As CEO of Summerhill, he was responsible for crafting innovative national return-to-retail stewardship programs for companies such as The Home Depot, Best Buy and TJX. He serves on multiple boards of private and public companies and has been recognized by Strategy Magazine for his marketing expertise. Ian and his work have received many awards, including from the Clean50, Canadian Geographic, and the Lung Association. In addition to mentoring young entrepreneurs, he was the Chairman of Pollution Probe, Director at Leaside Business Park Association, and Advisor to the Durham College’s Cannabis Industry Program.

Frank Denton

Director

Frank Denton brings decades of experience and executive leadership in public service including, regulatory policy and delivery, public private partnerships and crown governance. His most recent position was as CEO of the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA), the regulatory authority responsible for implementing the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act (RRCEA), including Tire Regulation 225/18. Prior to this appointment in 2017, Frank held a variety of senior executive positions in the Ontario Public Sector and was the assistant deputy minister responsible for design and delivery of a range of regulatory programs. As assistant deputy minister in the Ministry of Finance, he led several public sector commercial transactions. He is an expert in crown governance, regulatory policy and implementation, and was the architect of a broad range of public service delivery models, including agencies and other arms-length bodies. Before joining the Ontario government, Frank practiced commercial law with the firm of Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt.
